Oops I did it again…
Have you ever decided to change or start a new habit? Like telling yourself you’ll stop leaving your shoes in the living room, only to trip over them again the next morning? Or promising you’ll eat just one cookie, then realizing you’ve eaten three? Something similar happened to me this week.
I was at my boyfriend’s place for a mid-week dinner. He loves to cook, and I love when he cooks for me—it's a win-win part of our relationship. While he knew I was doing an exercise-nutrition challenge, I hadn’t mentioned that the first two weeks are all about eating only whole foods. No dairy, no processed foods—which includes bread. He had made pizza. And not just any pizza, but homemade, from scratch. He had prepared his own dough, something he calls “poolish,” which apparently involves special timing, kneading techniques, specific flour, rising, falling, cooling… honestly, I lose track of all the steps involved.
Realizing this meal was far outside my current nutrition plan, all I could do was laugh and decide this would be an “oops” meal. It was far more important to show my love and appreciation for his hard work than to stick to my meal plan.
I'll leave you with this: while love may move us off course for a time, don't forget the end game. Oh, and the pizza was delicious.
Make it a good one.
